Description: Located in a strategic position on the road from Alba leading to Monforte, just after the intersection with the old road leading to the centre of Barolo, less than two kilometres distant, and flanking the hill of Cannubi and the new ascending route while keeping on the right the magnificent Brunate panorama, stands the Gioco dell’Oca, an agritourism opened in 1997 by Raffaella Pittatore, who worked in the tourism sector around the world but then decided to return to her point of departure, just like the dice thrown in the game of oca, and to restructure her grandparents’ 19th-century cascina farmhouse. In a quiet spot, with green vineyards and hazelnut trees on every side, and boasting a spacious garden that is wonderfully relaxing in fine weather and where the children can play to their heart’s content in complete safety, with a covered portico perfect for grilling and barbecues in the cool evening, the agritourism offers seven rooms, one a triplex and the others with king beds, all with bath and shower, and all with antique furnishings, faithful to the local traditions of the working farms. The owners of the Gioco dell’Oca ensure that each guest is totally at ease and that every detail contributes to that goal, from the abundant breakfast with local products and homemade pastries and preserves, to the large, well-equipped kitchen that guests can use, and the brick-vaulted sitting-room for reading or enjoying a beverage--without the intrusion of a television--, so that guests can enjoy the warm, relaxed surroundings and truly feel at home, feel that they are members of an ideal extended family. The Gioco dell’Oca can be your starting-point for trips on foot or by bike along the five well-signed “Sentieri del Vino,” or wine paths that from Barolo wind through hills and vineyards.
